About The Democratic Party of Wisconsin WisDems is nationally recognized as one of the country’s highest-performing and most pivotal political organizations. During the upcoming election cycle, WisDems will drive massive programs to hold Republicans accountable, elect progressive candidates up and down the ballot, and work to build volunteer-led coalitions for the long term. WisDems’ work is grounded in inclusion, respect, and empowerment across race, gender, other dimensions of identity, and the rural/suburban/urban divide. Our work continues year-round, collaborating with partners to build a movement that delivers meaningful change for all Wisconsinites. We seek outstanding applicants who share our values and vision to join the team, help win elections, and build a future where everyone can thrive. The Opportunity: As a Regional Organizing Director, you are the on-the-ground leader of our grassroots movement in a key region of Wisconsin. You are responsible for building the volunteer teams, the local infrastructure, and the community relationships that will elect Democrats up and down the ballot. This is a manager-level role for a seasoned community organizer and coach who knows that elections are won by building durable, local power, one volunteer and one voter at a time. You will translate the statewide field plan into on-the-ground reality, leading your team to build a strong, inclusive, and powerful progressive presence in your communities. The Team: You will report to a Deputy Organizing Director and serve as a key strategic leader for your region. During the peak of the 2026 election cycle, you will manage, coach, and develop a team of Field Organizers. You will be the vital link between the statewide campaign strategy and the volunteers, activists, and party leaders who are the heart of our work. You're our person if:

  • You're a natural community builder. You see potential in everyone and are passionate about turning sporadic volunteers into committed, empowered leaders.
  • You're a player-coach. You love the work of organizing—knocking doors, making calls, and building relationships—but you get even more satisfaction from teaching and empowering others to be great at it.
  • You build trust quickly and authentically. You know how to navigate the complex world of local politics and community organizing with respect, humility, and a collaborative spirit.
  • You're competitive and goal-oriented. Metrics don't scare you; they focus you. You have a track record of leading teams to meet and exceed ambitious goals.
  • You are a creative and relentless problem-solver. When you hit a wall, you find a way around it, over it, or through it, and you coach your team to do the same.

Job Responsibilities: Volunteer Infrastructure & Team Building

  • Recruit, build, and develop local grassroots volunteer teams capable of executing a large-scale voter contact and volunteer-led organizing program.
  • Implement the statewide plan to build and maintain a durable volunteer infrastructure, including volunteer-led Neighborhood Action Teams.
  • Develop and host skill-building workshops and trainings for local volunteers to empower them as leaders in their own communities.

Voter Contact & Field Execution

  • Manage the execution of the field plan in your assigned region, ensuring that your team meets and exceeds its metrics-based goals for voter contact and volunteer engagement.
  • Implement a wide range of grassroots field tactics, including canvassing, relational organizing, and phone banking, ensuring all activities are high-quality and effective.

Stakeholder & Community Engagement

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key local stakeholders, including county party leaders, neighborhood team leaders, grassroots activists, candidates, and allied groups.
  • Serve as a representative of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin in your region, working to build a strong, inclusive, and welcoming progressive presence.

Team Management & Development

  • During on-cycle periods, manage a team of Field Organizers, supporting their success through consistent coaching, feedback, and professional development.
  • Foster an inclusive and engaging team culture rooted in our core values of respect, accountability, and teamwork.
  • In partnership with your Deputy Director, assist with the hiring and onboarding of new team members.
