Remote Principal Research Scientist - Drug Discovery

Our client, a cutting-edge pharmaceutical company at the forefront of innovative drug development, is seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Principal Research Scientist to lead critical initiatives within their drug discovery division. This fully remote position allows top-tier scientists to contribute their expertise from anywhere in the United States, focusing on advancing novel therapeutic candidates from concept to preclinical development. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in a relevant scientific discipline, a distinguished publication record, and a proven ability to drive complex research programs forward. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage significant drug discovery projects, setting scientific direction and ensuring timely execution of research objectives. Design, develop, and implement innovative experimental strategies for target identification, validation, and lead optimization. Oversee complex biological assays and screening campaigns to identify and characterize novel drug candidates. Interpret and analyze large, complex datasets, utilizing advanced statistical methods and bioinformatics tools. Mentor and guide a team of scientists and research associates, fostering a collaborative and high-performing research environment. Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements, emerging technologies, and competitive intelligence in relevant therapeutic areas. Author and contribute to scientific publications, patent applications, and regulatory filings. Present research findings clearly and concisely at internal scientific reviews, external conferences, and to senior leadership. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, and translational science departments. Develop and implement new methodologies and technologies to enhance drug discovery capabilities. Contribute to the strategic planning and prioritization of the drug discovery pipeline. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a closely related life sciences field. A minimum of 8-10 years of post-doctoral research or industry experience focused on drug discovery and development. Demonstrated track record of leading successful drug discovery programs and achieving key milestones. Extensive experience in relevant therapeutic areas (e.g., oncology, immunology, neurology, infectious diseases). Deep expertise in one or more key drug discovery disciplines (e.g., small molecule discovery, biologics development, gene therapy, assay development). Strong publication record in high-impact peer-reviewed journals. Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively within a remote team setting. Proficiency in bioinformatics, data analysis software, and relevant scientific databases. Must be eligible to work in the United States.
