Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and dispatch trucks efficiently using transportation management systems like Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to optimize routes and delivery schedules.
  • Communicate clearly with drivers, clients, and warehouse teams via multi-line phone systems and two-way radios, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Manage freight shipments from shipping to receiving, maintaining accurate data entry in systems such as AS400 and logistics platforms.
  • Utilize GPS and GIS tools for transportation planning, tracking vehicle locations, and ensuring timely deliveries.
  • Develop new business opportunities by engaging with potential clients through phone etiquette, persuasive communication skills, and proactive sales strategies.
  • Monitor fleet management activities, including shipping & receiving processes, to uphold safety standards and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and enhanced customer service.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine.
  • Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret data related to logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Familiarity with GPS, GIS technology, and transportation planning tools essential for effective dispatching.
  • Excellent communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette for engaging clients and coordinating with drivers.
  • Ability to perform data entry accurately while managing multiple priorities across multi-line phone systems.
  • Knowledge of freight operations, shipping & receiving procedures, and fleet management practices.
  • Prior experience in logistics or 3PL (third-party logistics) environments is highly desirable.
