Identification and Distribution Administrator, Foreign

SOCAN is a not-for-profit copyright collective dedicated to ensuring music creators and publishers receive what they have rightfully earned for the use of their work. The Identification and Distribution Administrator, Foreign is responsible for supporting the Royalties and Distribution team by retrieving, reconciling and matching distribution files for foreign revenue streams. This role involves ensuring accurate payments and distributions to clients for their repertoire.

Responsibilities

  • Support the end-to-end processing of foreign distribution files (including retrieving reports, and matching)
  • Accountable for report reconciliation process to ensure files and payments align prior to processing
  • Thoroughly research and update works in SGDRS to facilitate distribution
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the income source matrix to help identify any gaps in collections from our sister societies
  • Liaise and follow up with Foreign Societies, and internal stakeholders as required (i.e. regarding missing or incomplete payments or files)
  • Accountable for Cue sheet creation for TV distribution purposes
  • Respond to foreign related distribution inquiries as well as assist with the resolution of outstanding issues/backlog
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements to business procedures and related processes associated with royalties owing activities
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of policies and procedures related to the processing of foreign reports
  • Other duties as required

Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Computer literacy required: working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience dealing with large amounts of data
  • Accuracy and detail oriented a must
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent research skills
  • Excellent financial skills
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong time management skills to meet deadlines and ability to multi-task
  • Bilingual (English/French) required
  • Knowledge of existing SOCAN workflow an asset
