Position Overview

arenaflex is seeking a highly skilled Senior Analytics Engineer to join our dynamic analytics team on a part‑time, remote basis. This role will serve as a critical bridge between data engineering, business intelligence, and clinical operations, ensuring that our health‑care data pipelines are robust, scalable, and aligned with the strategic goals of the arenaflex Health Services Quality Improvement program. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, analytical acumen, and strong communication skills to drive data‑centric initiatives that enhance reporting, analytics, and decision‑making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Pipeline Architecture & Maintenance: Design, develop, and maintain complex ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest, transform, and load large volumes of health‑care data from internal arenaflex systems and external sources such as pharmacy claims, HEDIS datasets, and clinical case records.
  • Data Warehouse Management: Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of arenaflex’s data warehouse, ensuring data integrity, performance optimization, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Analytics Enablement: Build and curate curated data models, dimensional tables, and analytical datasets that empower business intelligence engineers, data scientists, and product owners to create insightful dashboards and predictive models.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner closely with cross‑functional teams—including data scientists, BI developers, product managers, and clinical experts—to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver data solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Implement rigorous data profiling, validation, and monitoring processes to guarantee accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all data assets.
  • Automation & Tooling: Develop internal tools and scripts that automate repetitive data‑engineering tasks such as data validation, QA testing, and metadata management, thereby increasing operational efficiency.
  • Performance Tuning & Optimization: Apply best practices in SQL, Spark, and cloud‑based data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) to optimize query performance, reduce latency, and lower compute costs.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce clear, concise documentation for data pipelines, data models, and analytical solutions, and mentor junior engineers on best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Travel Flexibility: Be prepared to travel up to 5% of the time for on‑site collaboration, stakeholder workshops, or industry conferences, both within the United States and internationally.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience developing and maintaining production‑grade ETL/ELT pipelines in a data‑intensive environment.
  • Proven expertise with SQL‑based data transformation tools and platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Azure Data Factory.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement data models that support both operational reporting and advanced analytics use cases.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of effectively collaborating with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working on data‑driven projects within the health‑care, pharmacy, or insurance domains is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule that aligns with a part‑time, remote arrangement while maintaining high productivity.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) or similar data‑analytics certification.
  • Familiarity with health‑care data standards such as HL7, FHIR, and HIPAA compliance requirements.
  • Experience with BI visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker, and the ability to translate data models into intuitive dashboards.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy benefit management (PBM) concepts, clinical quality measures, and health‑care analytics methodologies.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) for scalable data processing.

Core Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex data problems, identify root causes, and propose data‑centric solutions.
  • Problem‑Solving: Proactive approach to troubleshooting pipeline failures, performance bottlenecks, and data quality issues.
  • Collaboration: Strong team player who thrives in a matrixed environment, building trust with peers across product, engineering, and clinical teams.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating a fast‑paced, evolving technology landscape and quickly adopting new tools and methodologies.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to delivering high‑quality, error‑free data solutions that meet rigorous compliance standards.
