Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and diligent Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance Officer to join their team in a fully remote capacity. This position is critical for ensuring our operations adhere to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing EHS programs and policies across the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of federal, state, and local EHS laws, including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant standards. Your day-to-day activities will involve conducting regular site audits (remotely through virtual inspections and documentation review), assessing workplace hazards, and recommending corrective actions to mitigate risks. You will investigate accidents and near misses, prepare detailed reports, and develop preventative strategies. A significant part of your role will involve creating and delivering EHS training programs to employees at all levels, fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization. You will also manage environmental compliance, including waste management, emissions, and water quality. Maintaining accurate EHS records and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements is crucial. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field, coupled with significant experience in EHS management. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations. Proficiency in EHS management software and virtual collaboration tools is required. This remote role demands self-discipline, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive EHS programs and policies. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.). Conduct remote risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and develop corrective action plans. Design and deliver engaging EHS training programs to employees. Manage environmental aspects, including waste disposal, emissions, and sustainability initiatives. Maintain accurate EHS records, documentation, and regulatory reporting. Promote a strong safety culture and encourage employee participation in EHS initiatives. Stay up-to-date with evolving EHS legislation and best practices. Liaise with regulatory agencies as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health, Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in EHS management and compliance. In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant EHS regulations. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is highly desirable. Experience in remote auditing and virtual safety assessments. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in EHS software and standard office productivity tools. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
