Hadron Energy, Inc. specializes in Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) development and is seeking a Principal Structural Analysis Engineer with expertise in nuclear and safety-related structural analysis. The role involves serving as the technical lead for structural load definition, stress analysis, and qualification of reactor modules, working closely with various engineering teams to ensure compliance with design requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for structural analysis and load definition of the reactor module and associated safety-related systems
  • Develop and approve structural loading specifications, including thermal, pressure, seismic, transportation, handling, and accident loads
  • Perform and oversee advanced finite element analysis (FEA) of reactor vessels, containment structures, support systems, and mechanical components
  • Evaluate structural performance under normal operating conditions, design basis events, and beyond-design-basis scenarios
  • Develop stress reports and structural qualification documentation in accordance with ASME Section III requirements
  • Provide engineering direction for component designers and structural analysts throughout the design process
  • Collaborate with thermal-hydraulic, materials, mechanical, and safety engineers to ensure structural requirements are integrated across all reactor systems
  • Support NRC licensing activities through preparation of technical reports, regulatory responses, and safety analysis documentation
  • Review supplier designs, fabrication packages, and engineering analyses to ensure compliance with design requirements
  • Support testing, validation, and qualification programs for critical reactor structures and components
  • Establish structural design methodologies, analysis procedures, and engineering standards across the organization
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers and analysts

Skills

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
  • 10+ years of experience in structural analysis, pressure vessel design, or nuclear component qualification
  • Extensive experience with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section III
  • Advanced proficiency in ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL, or equivalent finite element analysis software
  • Strong understanding of stress analysis, fracture mechanics, fatigue, buckling, thermal stresses, and dynamic loading
  • Experience developing structural loading specifications and qualification methodologies
  • Familiarity with seismic analysis, transportation analysis, and accident condition evaluations
  • Strong understanding of materials behavior under thermal, pressure, and radiation environments
  • Excellent analytical, technical writing, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering efforts and mentor technical teams
  • Passion for clean energy, engineering excellence, and developing safe, scalable nuclear technologies
  • Experience supporting NRC licensing, design certification, or safety-related engineering programs is highly desirable
